A life-changing garden refurb for JamJam
You may have caught the recent revamp of Hallie’s garden on ITV’s Love your Garden but it’s not just a crack team of professional gardeners and TV crew that can transform outside spaces! Our fantastic practical support volunteers, alongside the incredibly generous teams at corporate partners Willmott Dixon and GSE, recently took on the total transformation of JamJam’s garden. JamJam accesses the service at our Eltham hospice and has been unable to use his garden at home as it was little more than a mud bath, especially following the recent deluge of rain.
Staff from Willmott Dixon and GSE, alongside practical support volunteers from Demelza, fitted an expanse of astro turf, and a basketball area, as well as a selection of butterfly-friendly planting, working hard to make the family’s dream of an accessible garden a reality.
JamJam’s mum said: "This is life-changing for us. I got to see JamJam laughing and crawling and rolling around on the astro turf and could tell he absolutely loved being outside with his family. The other children were so happy - one of JamJam’s brothers never spends any time outside but he immediately ran inside and got his toy cars and began playing in the garden. The older children love the basketball area and the flowers”.
A huge shout out to our practical volunteer team and our corporate partners – you really are an incredible group of people and the completion of this project has changed the life of a family. Who needs Alan Titchmarsh when you have practical support, Willmott Dixon and GSE?!
