Are charity shops taking donations?
One of the top questions on everyone mind is are charity shops taking donations? So we’ve put together a handy guide to answer all of your questions on donating your pre-loved goods and the safety measures we’ve put in place.
The simple answer is yes – our high street shops in Kent, East Sussex and London are now open, with the exception of our Eastbourne Charity Shop, and are able to take donations throughout their opening times.
We have put measures in place to make sure that we are keeping teams and customers safe, including sanitiser stations, face coverings and protective screens. We also encouraging people to maintain their social distancing while shopping with us. Our donations will be quarantined for 24 hours, and are steam and cleaned before going out for sale.
Pre-loved items we are looking for in our charity shops
We are hoping you are feeling inspired to sort through your houses and find some items for our charity shops. We are currently looking for winter clothes in our charity shops:
- Men’s winter jumpers and coats
- Waterproofs
- Woman’s coats, jumpers, scarves and boots
- Children’s coats, jumpers, scarves, hats and gloves
- Good quality toys and complete sets/puzzles
If you would like to donate to us, you can find your local Demelza shop here. Thank you for your support!
Are you currently accepting donations at the Kent Hospice?
Our donation shed at Demelza Kent will remain closed for the foreseeable future. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause but this is a necessary safety measure to reduce traffic to the hospice site, which keeps the risk of infection to children, families and staff to an absolute minimum. Please check our shops page to see which other locations in your area are open and ready to accept goods in due course.
I would like to donate furniture
If you are donating furniture you will be pleased to know that we are offering our collection service for furniture and bulky items, and request that a contactless doorstop service is in place where possible. All of our drivers will be taking safety precautions. For more information on our collection service please visit our shops page.
