Welcome back Bubblerush!
After a tumultuous year, the Demelza Events Team were back at it last month with their phenomenally successful Bubble Rush event, cancelled last year due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Last held in the summer of 2019 when Demelza hosted the UK’s biggest ever Bubble Rush in Mote Park, this year saw the return of 4000 runners, walkers, pushchairs and wheelchair users running, walking and toddling through a sea of bubbles.
Our excited fun-runners made their way through 4ft walls of coloured foam bubbles, going twice around a 2.5 km course at the park. Each of the four waves began with an energetic warm up courtesy of The Body Coaches Medway, whilst the Bloco Fogo Samba band kept everyone entertained with their spirited performance at the starting line.
The day had a fantastic festival feel to it, with stalls selling Demelza merchandise, as well as food and coffee stalls. Families, friends and supporters brought picnics to enjoy the whole day – and it was lovely to see.
Bubble Rush is jam-packed!
Hayley Richardson, Director of Fundraising and Marketing, said ““As a charity, Demelza is almost entirely dependent on the generosity of our supporters to provide the funds that keep our services going. We have seen a significant hit to income as a result of lockdown restrictions and we are delighted to be in a position to re-start events such as the Bubble Rush. This is our first ‘live’ event since the start of the pandemic in March 2020 and it couldn’t have gone better! We had 4,000 supporters throughout the day helping to raise £90,000!
We are really grateful to everyone who turned out and made this fundraising event such a brilliant day. Huge thanks to our sponsors, Stagecoach, Taylor Wimpey and Keith Rawling, who’s support has been invaluable – we look forward to bringing you the Bubble Rush again next year!”
