A Kent children’s author has visited Demelza to carry on our annual tradition of reading a Christmas story to our followers.

Alex Brooks, who is creating short stories to accompany the sculptures on our Trail with a Tale event next year, visited our Sittingbourne site earlier this month.

She had a tour of the hospice to learn more about Demelza, met some of the children we support and spoke with some of our nurses.

Alex, who is based in Tunbridge Wells, then read the classic The Night Before Christmas story, by Clement Moore.

She was filmed in our accessible grotto reading the story which will feature on Demelza’s social media accounts later today (Christmas Eve).

Afterwards, she also read the story to some of the children we support, who were at Sittingbourne for our Little Dots session – a stay and play group where parents get together for a cuppa and a chat.
