Bereaved dad Hua shared how he’s taking part in our Paris to Demelza Kent cycle in memory of his son, Henry.
Amateur and enthusiast cyclists alike are gearing up and starting their training for our Paris to Demelza Kent cycle in September this year! We spoke to Hua, a participant with a close personal connection to Demelza, to find out more.
"Demelza looked after my son, Henry, when he died from acute myeloid leukaemia last year – and what we gained from being at Demelza during that time was more than we could have imagined.
Now, despite being a little rusty, I’ve signed up for the Paris to Demelza Kent cycling challenge! I’m excited to support Demelza’s amazing mission and to give back to them for the support we’ve had not just at the end of Henry’s life, but also their continuing support over the last year. Demelza is still a big part of our lives – our other son Edward accesses creative therapy through Demelza, and still loves to talk about Henry – so I want to raise funds, as well as awareness, for these services."
It’s also important to me that I continue Henry’s legacy, and promote his story too.
