Demelza is excited to announce the launch of our #FestiveWishes Christmas Appeal 2022! This Christmas we want to raise £65,000 and grant festive wishes for every child we care for, as well as their brothers and sisters.
Volunteer elves will once again take the magic of a Demelza Christmas out into the community – with presents from Father Christmas for the families we support across Kent, South East London and East Sussex.
Those visiting Santa’s grotto at our Kent hospice will enjoy a magical illuminated light trail, with more festive characters, music and fun than ever before. Families can also opt in to receive a personalised letter from Father Christmas and attend festive parties, groups and events hosted by Demelza.
Most importantly of all, this Christmas we will be delivering vital care to children with a serious or terminal condition and emotional support for their loved ones. Demelza’s specialist nursing, care, family liaison, therapist and counselling teams support families when and where it is needed most.
Healthcare Assistant Anne Fullbrook, who has cared for children and young people at Demelza since we opened, said: “This Christmas will be my 24th at the hospice – but in many ways, it’s the most important. This year, we’re determined that Christmas will be special and magical again. Those that come to the hospice will find the Grotto bigger and more magical than ever. Our Demelza Festive Light Trail will have more lights and many more characters to discover. And for those children who still can’t make it here, our Elves will take the magic of a Demelza Christmas out to them.”
Lavinia Jarrett, our Chief Executive, said: “I’m always blown away by the generosity and spirit of our donors and supporters and during the pandemic we’ve been so grateful that they have not forgotten our important work.
We know current times are hard for so many. That’s why we want to reassure our supporters that any donation, however big or small, will make a world of difference to the families we care for. Whatever you feel you can manage, your gift will help to create more smiles, more fun and more precious memories this Christmas.”
