Demelza has reopened its shop in Tonbridge as an outlet store.
Celebrity Ambassador Cheryl Baker officially launched the shop today (Tuesday 1 July).
Outlet shops have all the usual stock of Demelza’s other stores, such as clothing, homeware and toys, but products are priced between 50p and £5, with uniform pricing for items.
The idea of outlet stores is to keep stock moving and they give everyone the opportunity to buy good quality items at affordable prices.
They also help make sure that every sellable donation Demelza is so generously given has a respectful chance of being sold and raising money.
Cheryl opened Demelza’s original Tonbridge shop in August 2018. Staff and volunteers have spent the last few days revamping the shop floor and Cheryl, who regularly volunteers in the shop, cut a ribbon to reopen it.
Demelza’s Deputy Director of Retail, Gemma Cruttenden, said: “Tonbridge is the perfect location for us to launch one of our outlet stores, which have been hugely successful in other areas. Outlets help us ensure we’re sustainable as a business.
“Charity shopping is a great form of recycling as it keeps unwanted goods out of landfill, gives items a new lease of life and provides affordable shopping options for people so we’d love people to come and visit and see if they can find a bargain.
“We love being part of this community and we’re delighted to share our new-look shop with Tonbridge residents.
“I’d like to thank Cheryl for launching our new store and for volunteering, and to the whole Tonbridge team for their support in this venture.”
