Demelza volunteers make #FestiveWishes possible

Demelza's incredible volunteers made it possible to deliver #FestiveWishes to children and families over Christmas; delivering presents straight to their door.

The Demelza Grotto, and all Christmas activities for families and children, has always been an amazing experience at Demelza - for everyone involved. Children using our services have the chance to meet Santa in Demelza’s very own Grotto, which glitters with lights, snow, and Christmas magic, before receiving a special surprise present. This year we added to the festive magic by adding in a Magical Trail and outdoor activity area, to provide children and families with the opportunity to take part in more festive activities, whilst feeling safe in the knowledge that COVID-19 measures were in place.

This event brings individuals from every area across the organisation together. It’s an opportunity where everyone can interact with children and families, and experience the impact that such an event can have on a family. A huge thank you to every single person that has been involved in the Demelza Grotto and Magical Trail, especially our hardworking and dedicated team of volunteers.

In the lead up to Christmas, our volunteers were out and about in communities over the South East, delivering over 390 presents to children and families at home. Masquerading as Christmas elves, they were able to bring smiles to the faces of many when knocking on front doors to wish Merry Christmas and hand over presents from Santa; a truly magical surprise! By Christmas Day we reached over 180 houses and saw first hand how Demelza’s efforts helped spread festive cheer and magic throughout December.

Every minute of volunteering that has gone into the Christmas activities has provided a magical experience for Demelza children and families, so we’d like to extend our huge thanks and gratitude to all involved. You are part of the magic.
