An iconic Greenwich venue has hosted a Celebration of Christmas event in support of Demelza.
The event was held at the Old Royal Naval College on Wednesday evening - the first time in almost a decade that the event has taken place in the borough.
More than 200 people came along to enjoy an evening of festive readings and timeless carols sung by the Chapel Choir and the Demelza Choir in the spectacular Chapel of St Peter and St Paul.
There were readings by Demelza Celebrity Ambassador Sally Lindsay and Demelza supporters actor and singer Natalie Casey and actor Maggie Service. There was also an emotional speech given by Liz, mum of two-year-old Henry, who is supported by Demelza South East London.
Altogether, the event raised more than £8,000 for the charity.
Demelza’s Head of Regional Events and Fundraising, Kat Cordery, said: “We are very pleased to have returned to holding one of our favourite events of the year in this beautiful iconic venue.
“It was a fantastic evening which felt very festive, with some lovely readings and outstanding performances by both choirs.
"We would like to thank all our supporters who came along to the event and all our readers and singers – it was truly a special night and we’re grateful to everyone who donated. Thank you also to our fantastic sponsors, Judge and Priestley.
“Events like this are so important in raising vital funds to allow us to continue delivering extraordinary care to extraordinary children.”
