Kent MP Sir Roger Gale has said he is overwhelmed by the support offered at Demelza and its dedicated team of staff and volunteers after a visit this week.
The veteran MP has represented the North Thanet constituency since 1983 and following the recent constituency boundary change, is now MP for Herne Bay and Sandwich. He visited Demelza’s Sittingbourne site on Monday.
He met with CEO Lavinia Jarrett and was given a tour of the site and facilities, where he met and spoke with some staff.
Sir Roger was shown around the main lounge and care areas, the kitchen, gardens and he also had the opportunity to see the soft play area, the sensory room and the hydrotherapy pool.
It was his first visit to the site and he said he was hugely impressed with the breadth of services offered.
Sir Roger said: “I can only marvel at the dedication of all the people who work here.
“I was hugely impressed with the facilities and the range of services which the staff offer to children and their families. I was particularly surprised at the amount of outreach work which the staff undertake in the community.
“It is really a tremendous facility.”
Demelza CEO Lavinia Jarrett said: “We were delighted to welcome Sir Roger to our Sittingbourne site and show him the facilities we have here.
“I’m grateful that he took the time to visit and to meet with some of our staff and that he was so impressed.
“We are very proud of the support we offer to children with serious or life-limiting conditions and it’s fantastic when we can share this with senior figures in our area.”
