We're looking for people to lend a hand in our new Walderslade charity shop that is opening next month!
The charity superstore at 3-4 Thetford House, in Walderslade Village, will be opening its doors to customers at 10am on Friday 15 July and will stock a range of quality pre-loved goods, collectables and high-end clothing for men, women and children.
Shoppers will also be able to take their pick of best-selling fiction and non-fiction reads in the large book and media section and treat themselves to a range of exclusive new homeware items and gifts on sale.
Demelza has been providing care for children with serious or terminal conditions and their loved ones across Kent since 1998 and profits from the new shop will go towards supporting this vital work in the local community.
By volunteering at the new Walderslade shop, people can make a valuable contribution to Demelza and its work, explains Gemma Cruttenden, Retail E-Commerce and Communications Manager:
“Demelza’s charity shops are staffed by hard-working and friendly volunteers who put time and energy into creating spaces that people want to spend time in”, says Gemma.
“The great thing about volunteering in Demelza’s shops is that there is a role for everyone; whether sorting stock, pricing items, making displays to draw in customers or being on the till as a friendly front-facing host.”
The shop Walderslade shop is Demelza’s 29th high street store and one of its largest. It will open seven days a week - from 9am-4.30pm Monday-Saturday, and 10am-4pm on Sundays.
Demelza is hoping to recruit 30 people to regularly lend a hand at the superstore. Willing volunteers must be aged 16 to apply, but no previous retail experience is necessary.
Gemma added: “Joining the team would be a great way to gain retail experience, make new friends and have fun while supporting vital children’s hospice care. We are also able to support school work experience placements and long-term placements for college students who are looking to boost their CV for future employment opportunities.”
The Walderslade shop will be accepting donations of good-quality stock on-site from 1 July, Monday to Friday, between 10.00am and 3.00pm.
