We're celebrating Volunteers Week, a time to recognise and celebrate the contribution of our volunteers to our communities. Volunteer June has shared a glimpse into her volunteering journey, where she has been serving and greeting customers for over a decade.
After reducing her working hours as a driving instructor, June decided she wanted to give something back locally.
"I heard about Demelza through a friend of a friend whose child had been supported by them until she sadly passed away, and I heard how wonderful their help and kindness had been. Having children and grandchildren myself, the decision to volunteer for Demelza was an easy one to make!"
Not only does June volunteer at our Eltham shop, but she also supports our fundraising events and even took part in a recent sponsored skydive!
"There is such good fun and atmosphere at the Eltham shop, and we have a lot of regular customers and supporters that come along to buy, donate and chat. We regularly go out for meals, and when I did the sky dive lots of the team came to Headcorn to support and cheer me on! A huge thank you goes to Demelza for making my life even more rewarding!"
We couldn't do what we do without the generosity and support of volunteers like June. Whether it's daring sponsored events, or helping us with collection buckets, every hour volunteered helps us to deliver extraordinary care to extraordinary children.
Thank you June, and to all of our fantastic Team Demelza volunteers!
