With the giving season fast approaching, there’s no doubt you may be thinking about what presents to buy for your loved ones. This Christmas there are over 600 children in our community, all relying on Demelza’s unique care and support and for some children with serious or terminal conditions, this Christmas could be their last. With your help, we can make sure children with serious or terminal conditions get the expert medical care they need – and the Christmas fun and joy they deserve.

Christmas is a time for joyful celebration and often, in times of celebration, you may decide to give a charity donation in lieu of gifts. You could do this in one of two ways: by giving a charity donation in the name of a loved one or by requesting donations be given to a charity of your choice, in lieu of gifts to you - for this option, you may wish to read our top tips for using your JustGiving page, making it simple for people to donate to your fundraiser.

If you have a winter wedding on the horizon and would like to request a donation to Demelza in lieu of receiving wedding gifts, we’ve put together a few words you may wish to share with your guests:

“[name] and [name] invite you to make a special donation to Demelza Hospice Care for Children’s #FestiveWishes Appeal in lieu of gifts, to help pay for the expert care that these children will need over the holidays and beyond. Anything you can give will help provide vital care for a child who has already lost out on so much this past 18 months. Thank you.”
