Marvellous Mick from Maidstone, one of our army of volunteers, has won the Kent Volunteer of the Year Champion award at this year’s Kent Volunteering Awards!

Mick, 75, has been volunteering for Demelza for nearly four years, following in the footsteps of his wife, Helen, who began volunteering on reception at the hospice in Sittingbourne in 2017, after she took retirement – volunteering at Demelza is very much a family affair for the Cranfield's!

Mick, one of our practical support volunteers, works in the Maidstone distribution centre as well as being a volunteer driver, and was presented with his award at a ceremony and afternoon tea held at the Ashford International Hotel on Saturday 4 December. Mick was accompanied by Helen and our very own Mary Goodger, Practical Support Service Manager. Mick was delighted to be honoured by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Kent, Paul Auston, who is also a Vice President of Demelza.
